Interment: November 20, 2008 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, near Little Falls, Minnesota


Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Camp Ripley Memorial Chapel in rural Little Falls for Thomas N. Carlson, age 64, of Long Prairie who died Monday at Long Prairie Memorial Hospital. Rev. Frank Moyer will officiate and burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in rural Little Falls. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home-Stein Chapel in Long Prairie. Thomas was born May 29, 1944 in Bismark, North Dakota to Harry & Olida (Jacobson) Carlson. He grew up in Bagley, Minnesota. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and later the National Guard. He attended Bemidji State for three years. Thomas married Patricia Nelson on May 25, 1981 in Baxter, Minnesota. He was employed by CenterPoint Energy for many years as a service tech. Thomas enjoyed model airplanes, aircraft, and was a WWII history buff. He also had a private pilot license. Survivors include his wife Patricia of Long Prairie; children, Tony (Jody) Carlson of Montrose, Matt (Kristin) Lingle of Sartell, and Ron (Nancy) Lingle of Sauk Centre; brother-in-law, Gerald Flaten of Big Lake; and five grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carol Flaten.
