August Baker(Becker) and his family immigrated to Canada in 1906 from Poland. They made their decision to leave after the Bloody Sunday battle.
The settled in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada before moving to the USA. In March 1920, August and his wife Wilhelmina moved to Puyallup,Washington. Their children Wilhelm, Lydia and Tillie also moved to Puyallup, Washington. They travelled from Victoria to Seattle by S.S. Sol Duc. They resided at 520 3rd St SW, Puyallup. Their house was on a large property, which had many fruit trees and fruit bearing plants and cows and chickens.
