Terry H. Bristow, 79, Sumner, Wash. died at 12:20 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Wash.
He was born on July 14, 1929 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Leonard W. and Madaline Bridges Bristow. He married Linda Jewell Miller on Nov. 25, 1959 in Monmouth. She survives.
He was raised and educated in Ottumwa, Iowa, Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz. Bristow retired from the Tacoma, Wash. School District in 1990 after 39 years in the education field as a teacher, coach and administrator. He taught in Illinois, Arizona and Washington. He officiated high school football, basketball and baseball games for many years and was an avid sports fan. His special loves were golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Stephen (Barbara), Puyallup, Wash.; three daughters; Brenda (Michael) Hall, Pacific, Wash.; Ann (Sam) Allegro, Tacoma, Wash.; Susan (Kent) Hernandez, Olympia, Wash.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Elsie Vanderpol, Ottumwa, Iowa, Joan Brodsky, Louisville, Ky.; Iris Vanderpol, Chariton, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Puyallup, Wash. No services are planned. Memorials may be made to the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute, P.O. Box 2071, Phoenix, AZ 85001.
