Mr. Hahn died January 3, 2007.
He was born February 20, 1930 to Grace Totten and Willis Hahn in Elida, New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He married Mary Kay Knowles in November 1953 in Portales, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Survivers include his wife; one son, Gary; two sisters, including Erma Murphey of Hereford and Vita Knowles of Portales, New Mexico; and one brother, Alga D. Hahn, also of Portales [printed in the Hereford Brand, January 5, 2007].
Two notes: Although his obituary says Garland was born in Elida, New Mexico, Garland himself told me that he was born in Red Lake... which I cannot find on the map. I suppose it is (was?) a very tiny spot on the map. Probably somewhere close to Elida!
Second note: Please add his VA marker inscription: U.S. ARMY
(The flags were beautiful on Memorial Day and just waving gently in the breeze). I hope you had the opportunity to see it.
Like your family, ours also has difficulties and my philosophy is "What I can change for the better, I will. What I cannot change, I will pray about."
My best wishes to you and yours, Tricia Potter.
