Born in Warwick, he was the beloved son of John C. and Susan L. (Robinson) Auger. Doug graduated this past June from Coventry High School where he was a member of the boys' varsity basketball team, and he was enrolled at the Community College of Rhode Island for the upcoming fall semester. Since his graduation Doug had been working for the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management at Goddard State Park in Warwick.
Doug was very athletic and was a lifelong member of the Coventry Soccer Association. He played baseball in the Central Coventry Little League and in the Coventry Babe Ruth League. Prior to being selected to the boys' varsity team Doug played basketball in the Coventry Basketball Association, in the AAU Basketball League and for the Coventry Middle School team.
