Evangeline M. Reyes was the fourth child of Bruno Martinez and Maria H. Martinez. She was born Feb.4,1930 in Chanute,Kansas. She married Frank A. Reyes in North Platte,Nebraska on Sept. 10,1949. They had 6 children, Joseph,Carol Ann, Rachel, Roxann,Alex, and Steve. They moved to California in 1957. While her children were growing up in a Catholic home, Evangeline taught her children the importance of life. She was a beautiful woman, standing 4'll". She played the piano by ear and was a very talented and loved woman. With her warm smile, and positive attitude, she brightened the lives of all who knew her. She was an active member of the L.U.L.A.C. organization,and they sponsored students of the Mexican/American decent for college scholarships and other charities pertaining to the Mexican/American community. She contracted cancer in 1970 and lost her battle on June 13th,1971. She will always be missed by her 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
