James Andrew Frank Howard was the eldest child of James Alexander Howard and Martha J. Shanks of Loudon County, Tennessee. This family moved to Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas from Unitia, Tennessee in 1899. Frank Howard's grandparents were William E. Howard and Milly Barnhill Howard of Friendsville, Blount County, Tennessee. William Howard was a blacksmith and taught the craft to his son, James A. Howard who passed it on to his son Frank. Howard and Sons Blacksmith Shop operated for many years at 212 E. Jefferson Street in Waxahachie. Frank Howard married Callie Jay Spencer, also of Friendsville, Tennessee, on August 12, 1898 in Loudon, Tennessee. They had two daughters, Frankie Mae Howard Wheatley and Marie Louise Howard Clark Hale. Frank and Callie lived at 219 Pecan Street in Waxahachie where they raised their granddaughter Betty Lou Clark. Their wonderful old home has been renovated and is a beautiful site. I remember going there as a child and eating big pecan shortbread cookies. I love you both, Gloria Jeanne

"Death Takes Frank Howard At Age Of 63"
"Native of Giles County, Tennessee Dies Suddenly"
"Frank Howard, 62, Waxahachie mechanic, died suddenly at 5:30 a.m. at his home here. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
Mr. Howard was born June 30, 1877 in Tennessee. He had lived in Waxahachie thirty-five years.
Survivors are his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Pendell Wheatley of Bardwell and Mrs. Louise Seaton of Brownwood; a grandchild; two brothers and three sisters.
He Joined the Waxahachie Methodist Church at an early age.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Saxon-Champion-Boze Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Quay Parmer officiating.
Burial will be in Bardwell Cemetery."
