| Birth: | May 1, 1949 | | Death: | Jun. 29, 2009 |  Daily Local News, West Chester, Chester County, Pa Thursday, July 2, 2009 Brian D. "Buck" Althouse Sr., 60, of Honey Brook, formerly of West Chester, died on Monday, June 29, 2009, at the Fox Chase Cancer Center, following an illness.
He was the husband of Amy M. (Malin) Althouse, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.
He was born in Lancaster County on May 1, 1949, the son of the late Edna (Rubincam) Althouse.
Buck was employed as an electrical supervisor with American High Mast of West Chester.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the American Legion Wassanan Post #422 of Honey Brook, VFW Post #106 of West Chester, Marine Corps League of Downingtown, and USMC 9th Engineer Battalion reunion organization.
He was a loving husband, father, pappy, friend and a proud Marine who never gave up.
He enjoyed spending time with his Marine buddies, working in his yard, was an avid NASCAR fan, and loved riding his Harley.
Buck was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Miles.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by a daughter, Brianna L. Gross of Honey Brook; two sons, Brian D. Althouse Jr. of Media and Brad W. Althouse of Honey Brook; a father, James and his wife, Kay Althouse, of Sadsburyville; two brothers, Robert Miles of Honey Brook and David Miles of Kansas; a sister, Marleen Pomaiba of East Fallowfield; and a father and mother-in-law, George and Maryanne Malin of Downingtown. There are six grandchildren, Alexis, Jesse, Madison Gross, Hailey and Mila Althouse and Kiernan Delaney.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3, at 11 a.m. at The Labs Funeral Home Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook.
Interment will follow in Honey Brook Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Buck to either the Marine Corps League Detachment Home, 430 Chestnut St., Downingtown, PA 19335; or the Cancer Center at Paoli Hospital, 255 W. Lancaster Ave., Paoli, PA 19301
