Mrs. Dixie Snow Wilson Bryan, of Moss Point, Miss., was born Sept. 26, 1938 in Pachuta, (Jasper Co.), MS and went to be with her Heavenly Father on Oct. 1, 2008. She graduated from Moss Point High School and went on to earn a B.S. degree and a M.Ed. from the Univ. of Southern Miss. Dixie enjoyed teaching third graders for 28 years at Charlotte Hyatt Elementary in Moss Point, the school she had attended as a child growing up in Moss Point. She went on to train teacher assistants at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for 4 years, retiring for the second time in 2006, which brought her vocation full circle as she had begun her career as a teacher assistant in Moss Point Schools. Dixie enjoyed many lifelong close friends, many of whom she played bridge with in the Moss Point Monday Afternoon Bridge Club. She was grateful for Dantzler Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member and belonged to the Agape Sunday School Class. She was a beautiful and accomplished woman, having been voted Most Beautiful each year throughout high school and was Homecoming Queen for Moss Point High School her senior year. While attending the Univ. of Southern Miss., she traveled extensively with the Dixie Darlings and made many more lifelong friends. She was a member of the National Red Hat Society, River City Reds Chapter, the Moss Point Retired Teachers Assn., the Southern Mississippi Dixie Darling Assn., and awarded the All American-Majorette Award by the All-American Football Foundation. She also supported BSA Troop 220 of Moss Point when her sons and grandson were active members. Dixie was married to her husband, Mike Bryan, for nearly 50 years. She was the proud mother of two loving sons and daughters in law: LTC Mich Bryan, and his wife, Angela, and Jeff Bryan, and his wife Ginny. Dixie was the proud grandmother of two wonderful grandsons, Alex Bryan, son of Mich and Angela, and Hunter, son of Jeff and Ginny, and a precious granddaughter, Kaitlin, daughter of Mich and Angela. She is also survived by her loving brother, Joseph Rockne Wilson, of West Virginia. She was loved by her numerous cousins and nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joseph W. Wilson, born in Michigan, and Virginia Ellen Simms Wilson, born in Jasper Co., Miss., who named her for the north and the south when they chose her name, Dixie Snow. Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula, MS. On Sunday, Oct. 5, Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 3 p.m. at Dantzler Memorial United Methodist Church in Moss Point, MS. Burial will be at Serene Memorial Gardens, Escatawpa, MS. Pallbearers will be Joe Brown, Hardy Martin, Robert Khayat, Earl Gautier, Sonny Vann, Laurin Avara, Matthew Avara. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Agape Sunday School Class.
