David Joseph (D J) Parrish, Sr, 56, of Maxville, Fla., died early Friday evening in a Jacksonville hospital. He was a pulpwood producer and a deacon in Maxville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having serviced in the US Navy. Survivors include his wife, Mrs Juanita Nolan Parrish, of Maxville; 3 daughters, Mrs. Patricia Ann Garelick, and Mrs. JoAnn Fallen, of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Rhonda Dixon, of Maxville; 1 son, David Joseph Parrish, Jr. of Maxville, and his mother, Mrs. Nellie Parrish, of Maxville; a foster brother, Harold R. Higginbotham, of Lawtey; 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 pm in the Maxville Baptist Church with Rev George Wilkinson and Rev Bobby Knight officiating. Casket bearers, active, Leon Harris, James Cooleman, Joe Hogan, Ben Higginbotham and J. D. Wilkinson, and E. D. Higginbotham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mikel Hargroves, D. B. Griffis, Albert Carroll, Sidney Deese, Randolph Crosby, Marvin Green, Floyd Johns, Frank Bell, Buddy Bradshaw, Buddy Browning, Junior Wilkinson. Interment will be in the family plot in Long Branch Cemetery, Clay County. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fraser Funeral Home, Macclenny.
