Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Franklin Alford, 75, were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 19, 1982 from the Morton United Methodist Church. Rev. Hobson Toney, Rev. Earl Presley, and Rev. John Carter officiated. Interment was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Scott County, with Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Alford died Tuesday afternoon [February 16] at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, following a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of Baton Rouge for the past two years, but had lived most of her life in Morton. She was a member of the Morton Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Joy Alford Lehr, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three brothers, F.S. Franklin, Lewiston, Idaho, J.R. Franklin, Forest, and J.H. Franklin, Union; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Harpe, Morton, Mrs. Emma Lee Pennington, Ackerman, and Mrs. Thelma Reeves, Jackson; four grandchildren, Mrs. Tere Banks Luther, Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Paula Banks Ramsey, Utica, and Miss Tina Joy Banks, Hattisburg, and George Banks of the U.S. Navy, Orlando, Florida; five step-grandchildren, Mrs. Dianna Phillips, Richard A. Lehr, Jr., Mike Lehr, Jeff Lehr, and Susan Lehr, all of Baton Rouge; three great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Britt Alford, Jr., Martin Hearn, Randy Walsh, Glenn (Bip) Miles, Eddie Hartley, and James Robert (Bubba) Franklin.
