Paul Rampley, 98, of Sutter, Ill., died Friday, June 22, 2007, at Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage, Ill.
Born Dec. 19,1908, in West Point, Ill., he was the son of William and Amanda Gumble Rampley. He married Eileen Lehr on June 5, 1955, in Tioga, Ill.
Mr. Rampley owned and operated the Breckinridge General Store until 1958. He and his wife also farmed in Sutter, Ill. He was a veteran of the Army and served in World War ll. He was awarded three bronze stars while serving in the New Guinea, Philippine and Luzon campaigns
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Wilma Hemphill of Burlington and Wanda Lambert of Carthage; two sons, Dale Rampley of Sutter and Gale Rampley of Havana, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, five brothers and one sister.
The funeral for Mr. Rampley was held at Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga, with the Rev. Nancy Nyberg officiating.
