Eleonora Katharina Meyer was the oldest daughter of the seven children of Carl and Anna Ehlers/Meyer. She married Otto Deffner on 15 Feb 1909 in Blackwell, Kay Co., OK. She was the mother of their five children: John Otto, Paul, Ernest Walter, Ivan Dietrich, and Juanita Emma Katharina.
Inscription on the gravestone: "The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want- Psalm 23"

Eleonora Katherine Deffner died in St. Joseph's Medical center - Blackwell at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, August 4. Her residence was 635 East Blackwell. She was 93.
Her funeral will be Tuesday, August 7 in the Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Helmer officiating. Burial will be in the local I00F Cemetery under the direction of Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Deffner was born Oct. 2, 1890, at Paullina, IA, the daughter of Carl and Anna Meyer. She received her education in Lutheran day schools in Paullina and at St. John's Lutheran School at Kildare. She was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church east of Blackwell.
She was married to Otto Deffner on February 15, 1909, in St. John's east of Blackwell. They lived in the rural area until they moved to town in 1931.
Mrs. Deffner was a charter member of the Trinity Lutheran Church which organized in her home north of town in 1925. She taught Sunday school in the church for many years. She was a member of Ladies Aid, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Lutheran Layman League.
She was a past member of the R.K.E. extension club and took an active interest in the school activities of her five children.
She is survived by three sons, Paul Deffner of Paola, KS, John Deffner of Blackwell and Ivan Deffner of Blackwell; a daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Juanita) Sodowsky of Blackwell; a brother, Robert Meyer of Clovis, NM; two sisters, Irene Hall of Tulia, TX and Emma Trenary of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, on October 8, 1966.
A memorial has been established to St. John's College at Winfield, KS.

Nora's father, Carl, was the brother of my great-grandfather, Conrad Meyer. I received a letter that she began writing to me but passed away before she finished it... It was sent to me by her son, Ivan. Rest in peace, dear cousin~
