JUNCTION CITY – A memorial service will be held Sept. 7 for Norleigh L. Alford of Junction City, who died Aug. 30 of age-related causes. He was 86.
He was born July 22, 1910, in Myrtle Point. He married Maude Schmitt in Eugene on Aug. 2, 1929.
Alford was a logger and business partner for Camas Swale Lumber in Creswell. Later, he worked for the Lane County Motor Pool, retiring in 1971.He moved to Junction city in 1978.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and traveling. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Junction City.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Norleigh Alford Jr. of Junction City and Everett of Hereford, Ariz.; a sister, Nelda Westrope of Springfield; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Saturday's service will be at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Junction city, with private burial at the Creswell Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Hospice or the Eugene Mission.
