Henry Depies Sheboygan Press February 26, 1946
New Holstein—Henry Depies, 75, passed away on Sunday at his home on Illinois Avenue in New Holstein. He was born in Belgium, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wickart Depies. He received his early schooling in that section and later worked on his father's farm until his marriage to Miss Margaret Petesch on Feb. 12, 1895. The couple bought a 240-acre farm in town Charlestown. They lived on the farm, since divided into two farms, for 12 years. In 1907 they moved to Chilton where Mr. Depies became associated with Joseph Hanert, Jacob Westenberger and Anton Egerer in the hardware and furniture business. That company was dissolved in 1915 when the family moved to New Holstein and resided there until three years ago, when they moved to their present home on Illinois avenue in the community.
The deceased was an active member of the Holy Rosary congregation and was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters of Chilton and the New Holstein branch of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.
The survivors are the widow, one daughter and five sons. They are Mrs. Oscar (Dorothy) Roehrig of Sheboygan; Arthur of Hilbert; Joseph, Walter and Edgar of New Holstein; and Henry Jr of Hilbert. Twenty grandchildren and two sisters; Mrs. Lena Hubing of Belgium and Mrs. Kathryn Petesch of Fredonia also remain. One son preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at the Erbe-Hoffman Funeral home and at the Holy Rosary church. The Rev. George Schemmer will officiate and burial will be made in Chilton.
