Dyersburg Funeral Home Obituary
Dyersburg, TN
November 4, 2011

Ida Frances Beal, 89, of Lakeport, CA, formerly of Ridgely, passed into eternal rest on Sunday, October 30, 2011.

Frances was born in Lake County on March 30, 1922 to Edith May Wilcox and Walter Truman Wood, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her five brothers, Nolan, Aubrey, Coleman, Thomas and Carlton Wood.

She married Aubrey Beal on June 6, 1939, who passed away in 1978. They had one daughter, Carolyn James and husband, Larry, reside in San Mateo, CA. She is survived by two grandchildren, Curt James and wife, Kim, and Cindy James; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom live in California.

Close to her heart is her sister-in-law, Faye Hall of Ridgely, who is more like a daughter, as she helped to raise her when Faye's mother died, and sisters-in-law, Barbara and Karnese Wood and Evelyn Edgar. She also leaves beloved nieces and nephews, some of whom she took care of during their childhood.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ridgely, where she visited the Nursing Home on a regular basis, helped at Vacation Bible School and assisted in many of the other church functions. She belonged to the Young at Heart Club and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Her special joy was belonging to the Ridgely Woman's Club, where she and her wonderful friends shared many good times.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Ridgely with the Rev. Thomas Pirtle officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery and a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall at the church.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Her love for cooking for others leaves a legacy of fond memories for all of those fortunate enough to enjoy one of her special meals. She has a quick smile for all and a ready and willing spirit to aid anyone who asked for help. She loved her church family and her friends. She was well loved in return, and she will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace, Dear Frances.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Ridgely.
