ENOREE, SC -- James Franklin Abercrombie, 70, of 6184 Highway 92, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Laurens County Hospital.
A native of Laurens County, he was a son of the late Raymond H. and Elizabeth Simmons Abercrombie. He was a member of Bramlett United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Mr. Abercrombie retired after 30 years of service from the U. S. Marine Corp. having served during the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, June L. Alden Abercrombie of the home; one son, Raymond Carl Abercrombie of California; two step-sons and daughter-in-law, Loyd and Cindy Gothard, Curtis Gothard of Shelby, NC; daughter, Donna Lynn Avilla of California; three sisters, Mary Manly of Gray Court, Peggy Abercrombie of Enoree, Faye Arnold of Woodruff; five grandchildren; and one step-great-grandaughter.
The family will receive friends 2-2:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Lanford Funeral Home prior to the funeral service. At 3:00 p.m. the funeral service will be held in the chapel conducted by Rev. Dane Morehead.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 310-B Bennett Center, Greer, SC 29650.
