Henry Bruns, 67 of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a native of Van Buren, died February 4, 1989 a a New Orleans Hospital.
He was a retired U.S. Army Captain, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He served in Arkansas National Guard in Fort Smith, in teh 142nd Field Artillery from 1938-1941. He was ROTC instructor at Louisiana University for four years and was a member of the University United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge.
Survivors are his wife, Marie; three daughters, Marilyn Lacy of Pensacola, Florida, Susan Quinn of Jackson, Mississippi and Pamela Kirby of Washington, D.C. ; a son, Henry Herman 'Hank' Bruns of Memphis, Tennessee; three sisters, Pauline Lambert and Hermie Smith both of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Caroline B. Allen of Van Buren; five brothers, Herman of Borger, Texas, Antone of Los Angeles, California, Francis of Waco, Texas, and Walter and Robert C. both of Van Buren. He had nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 7 at the University United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. Burial with full military honors was in Port Hudson National Cemetery in Louisiana.
