Kenneth G. Prechtl, 59, of Box 275B, Daguscahonda, died Sunday morning, Dec. 8, at home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct 10, 1943 in St Marys, son of the late Frederick Prechtl, Sr. and Viola Krieg Prechtl. On October 19, 1968 in St. Marys Church, he married Cindy Schneider, who survives.
Mr. Prechtl was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Ridgway High School, class of 1962. He was an employee of the Allegheny Power for the past 35 years. He was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ in Ridgway, the Quarter Century Club at Allegheny Power and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Stacy, Mrs. Jack Kifer, of Ridgway, Pamela Prechtl and her fiancÚ, Jeffrey Goodliff, of Shinglehouse, Kelly, Mrs. Mark DiNardo, of Pittsburgh, and Barbara, Mrs.Shane Miles, of Ridgway; seven grandchildren, Brent Prechtl, Jordyn Jones, Kiersten Schloder, Gage Goodliff, Jessica Kifer, Jake Kifer and Nicholas DiNardo; five sisters, Frieda, Mrs. William Cassells, of St. Marys, Mary, Mrs. Robert Hanes, of Erie, Helen Lenox of Dagus Mines, Margaret, Mrs. Clarence Gerg, of Toby and Carolyn, Mrs. Edward Saline, of Shelvey Summit; and three brothers, Albert Prechtl of St. Marys, Fred Prechtl Jr. of Daguscahonda, and Thomas Prechtl of Ridgway.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Prechtl, in infancy; and a brother, Dick Prechtl.
Funeral services for Kenneth G. Prechtl will he held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the Faith United Church of Christ in Ridgway, with the Rev. Ron Burkett officiating. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home.
