Raymond Austin McGlynn was born on May 23, 1908, in Michigan, to parents Joseph P. McGlynn, born in Canada (1878-1936), and Lucy Hauck, born in Wisconsin (1880-1931).
Raymond was the sixth child in a family of eight children. His brothers and sisters were: Violet M. McGlynn-Vogler (1902-1980), Cress I. McGlynn-Vandenberg (1903-1990), Frederick J. McGlynn (1905-?), Edward V. McGlynn (1906-1989), Bernard R. McGlynn (1907-1971), Mae L. McGlynn-Douglas (1910-?), and Frances M. McGlynn-Pebbles (1915-?), all born in Michigan.
On December 5, 1936, Raymond married Helen Eleanor Bruschitzki in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan. Helen was born in Michigan (1915-1998) and was the daughter of John Bruschitzki (1889-1964), and Anna Christine Nastale (1892-1974), both born in Michigan.
After they married, Raymond and Helen remained in Wayne County, Michigan; both their children were born in Michigan. The family eventually moved to National City, San Diego, California, where they settled.
Ray and Helen are buried in La Vista Memorial Park.
