VERA MONTIERTH LARSON was born September 28, 1917 in Safford, Arizona and passed away March 20, 2007 in Globe, Arizona. She was the first child of Robert Elliot Montierth and Lillie Elizabeth Harrison. She was later joined by three brothers; Marvin, Jerry, and Rolland. She was raised on farms near Ft. Thomas, AZ. She attended school in a one room school house in Ft. Thomas.

On September 12, 1934, she married Ernest J. Larson and they had four children; Lillian(Jack)Larimore, of Globe, Shirley(Edd)Dawson of Globe, Roberta(Mark)Shellenberger of Globe, and James(Sue)Larson of Mesa. Ernest and Lillian have preceded her in death,as have 2 grandchildren. After her marriage to Ernest, they moved to Phoenix where Vera graduated from Phoenix Union High School. They returned to the farm for a short time before relocating permanently in Globe. They lived on Nofsger Hill until 1955. They then moved into their present home in Six Shooter Canyon.

Ernest worked for the copper mines for 32 years while Vera excelled in all aspects of homemaking. She was a prize winning cook, an accomplished seamstress, an amazing gardener, and equally adept at crocheting, quilting, sewing, or fishing. When Jim was in elementary school, Vera went to work for the Department of Economic Security, as a case worker and finally the Director of the Food Stamp Program. Even while working, she managed to be active in the Garden Club, Gila County Fair, and her church activities and service.

Vera instilled in her children her attributes of hard work and service to others. She did her very best at every endeavor she undertook. She will be greatly missed by her children, her 12 granchildren, her 16 great-grandchildren, and her one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at the Relief Society Room of the LDS Stake Center in Globe. Funeral Services will follow at 10:00AM at the church. Burial will follow in Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens in Miami.
