The transatlantic ocean liner sank in the St. Lawrence River after colliding with the Storstad (Norwegian coal ship) on its journey between Quebec City, Quebec, Canada to Liverpool, England.
One of their sons was to accompany them back but thankfully never did. Ellen's body was found but James's never was. As she was feeling ill when they boarded the ship at Québec City, Ellen was staying in the infirmary on a different deck from her husband. This is probably why her body was located and later claimed by her son James Jr in Québec City, for transport back to London Ontario for burial.
Son Charles buried in this plot with his mother. No marking on stone to indicate this.
