Paul V. Hudgel, 89, of Burlington, died at 6:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born June 6, 1915 in Fairfield, he was the son of Lincoln and Mary Keller Hudgel. On June 15, 1951, he married Barbara M Galbraith in Burlington.
Mr Hudgel was a salesman for Bennett Home Center for 50 years until retiring in 1984. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He attended Burlington schools. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Burlington, where he was a past deacon and trustee. He was chairman of the 1965 remodeling of the church. He also was a member of the Lions Club, Carthage Lake Club and Keenagers. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the Hawkeyes and Cubs.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis Hudgel of Burlington and Douglas Hudgel of Pell City, Ala; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be from noon until 8:30 Tuesday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. There will be no family visitation.
The funeral for Mr. Hudgel will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church with the Rev. Steven Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Stronghurst Cemetery, Stronghurst, Ill.
Memorials have been established for First Congregational Church and Burlington Lions Club.
