Samuel Duane Bryant, 55, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in Beverly Healthcare at Brookview, Indianapolis.
He was born in Marion to Walter Bryant and the late Katherine (McCon) Bryant and lived in Marion most of his life.
He was a US Navy veteran serving in Vietnam. He then worked at the VA Hospital in Marion and Phoenix, Ariz. Later, he worked at Naval Avionics in Indianapolis. Upon its closure, he went to work as a computer assistant at the Information Support Activity, US Army Enlisted Records and Evaluation Center, Indianapolis, retiring in 2004. Samuel was an avid NASCAR fan and worked security at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Survivors include his son, Eric Duane Bryant, Red Bay, Ala.; father, Walter Bryant, Huntington; sister, Joan (Harry) Hoover, Sandy, Utah; niece, Rochelle Hoover; nephew, Don Hoover; and good friends, Mark and Pam Gard, Marion and Anne Greene, Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Bryant.
Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Needham-Storey-Wampner, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, with the Rev. Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial is in Marion National Cemetery.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
