HOWARD E. CALIMER, 88, of 307 N. Potomac St., died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. He had been blind and was in failing health for the past two years.
He became critically ill Saturday morning and was admitted to the hospital.
He was born April 30, 1881 at Old Forge, a son of the late John H. and Charlotte Cozer Calimer.
His early life was lived at Old Forge and Monterey and the greater part of his life was lived in Waynesboro.
For a number of years he was employed as a carpenter by A. R. Warner and for 25 years was employed by the borough of Waynesboro. He was last employed at the Waynesboro Laundry. He was retired for the past 10 years.
His wife, Minerva Snider Calimer, died in October, 1967. He was a member of the Church of God.
Mr. Calimer is survived by these children: Miss Irene Calimer, Sylvester Calimer, Mrs. Irvin Cook, Howard E. Calimer, Jr., Mrs. Calvin Tressler, Charles Calimer, Mrs. William Wilhide, all of Waynesboro; Mrs. Warren Bonebrake, Waynesboro R.D. 4, and Mrs. Henry Teideman, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; five brothers and a sister, John J. Calimer, Alliance, Ohio; William H. Calimer, Christopher C. Calimer, Harry Calimer and Daniel B. Calimer, all of Waynesboro R.D. 4, and Mrs. Grace Monn, Greencastle.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2p.m. in the Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. W. H. Seville and the Rev. Ralph Wise. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 - 9 p.m. today.
