Dorothy Aline Dixon Riggins, 91, of Patterson, passed away late Thursday evening, April 23, 2009, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, following an extended illness.

A native of Pierce County, she had lived all of her life in Patterson and was a retired school teacher and Secretary. She was one of the oldest living members of Patterson Baptist Church where she had sung in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. In her younger years, she loved to travel and ‘sight see' in many different places. She was also a former treasurer of the Retired Educators Association.

She was a daughter of the late Rev. Henry "Lester" and Mattie Lee Jackson Dixon and was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Truman "R.T." Riggins.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Mock (husband Jimmy), Jefferson, Gail Jordan (husband Bill), St. Simons Island; a sister, Faye Smith, Montgomery, Ala.; two grandchildren, Holly Courchaine (husband Kerry), Jefferson, Chris Mock (wife Ivy), Patterson; four great-grandchildren, Summerlin Courchaine, Langley Courchaine, Bracey Courchaine, Riggs Mock; several nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives.

Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26, from the Patterson Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the Patterson Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Patterson Baptist Church Building Fund, 5770 Main Street, Patterson, Georgia 31557

The Faith Sunday School Class are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. They are asked to meet at the church by 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
