Former Carnegie Woman Pioneer Dies At Anadarko
Funeral services for Mrs. J.S. Jarnagin, Anadarko, mother of Lawrence and Bob Jarnagin, Carnegie, were held Friday in the Anadarko First Baptist church with Rev. Frank Loveless, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Memory Lane cemetery at Anadarko.
Mrs. Jarnagin, a resident of Carnegie and community in the early 20's, died Wednesday, November 21, in the Anadarko hospital.
A pioneer settler of Oklahoma, Nancy Jane Jackson was married in 1890 to Rev. J.S. Jarnagin. She had witnessed many changes of progress made in this area. She was born on June 4, 1875, and had lived the past 35 years in Anadarko.
Twelve children were born to Rev. and Mrs. Jarnagin. Her husband, two sons, Ray and Port, and two daughters, an infant and Mrs. Gertie Mills, preceded her in death.
She is survived by four sons, Lawrence and Bob, Carnegie, Harvey of Oklahoma City, and Jay of Nowata; four daughters, Mrs. Frank Senter and Mrs. A.N. Stalder, both of Apache, Mrs. Dwight Hamlin, Alva, and Mrs. L.A. Lombard, Oklahoma City; a sister, Mrs. Rosa Nichols of Butler; a brother, Howard Jackson of Noble, Okla.; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
