My g-g-grandmother is Annie Johnston Culton. In the early 1870's, she accompanied her son-in-law and daughter, Benjamin Franklin Warden, Jr. and Francis Culton Warden, when they moved from West Virginia to Burnet County, TX. Annie's son Newton moved with them, along with several other families. On a recent trip to Washington, DC, I spent some time in the offices of the Historical Society in Lexington, Rockbridge Co, VA. I was looking for history for Annie. I found a wealth of material, including the following entry in the Virginia Historic Marriage Register, Rockbridge County, Virginia Marriages 1778-1860, page 324:
Johnston
"Ann & Alexander Culton 10 Aug 1818; d Zachariah bond or license date only"
The findagrave.com page for Dr. John Johnston lists Ann as his daughter; I believe this is an error. The marriage record above indicates that Ann's father was John's brother Zachariah Johnston, Jr.
Also, the page for Ann shows John and Elizabeth Bell Johnston as her parents; I believe this should be Zachariah and Jenny McMath Johnston.
If you have other data, I am very interested.

In the 11 Aug 1982 (correct year) issue of the Seguin Gazette Enterprise, Seguin, Texas, I found the following under Mary C. Bond's Family Tree Article based on old obituaries. It says: "Ann R. Johnston Culton died in 1881 in Burnett County. She was the widow of Alexander Culton, who died 1840 in Rockbridge Co., VA." (Lindy SP)
