Services for Fredrick Charles Arndt of 1409 N. Brents, Sherman, Texas, 86 year-old retired carpenter and farmer, who died Tuesday, July 7, 1982, at a Sherman hospital, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Waldo funeral chapel.
The rev. A. W. Blaine, Baptist minister of Collinsville, will officiate and burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas. Mr. Arndt was born in Indian Territory, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Arndt and married Vera Greer on December 24, 1924, in McAlester, Oklahoma.
He was cited by former Sherman Mayor Virginia Morriss for his volunteer service and support of Sherman and Sherman youth programs. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Grace Page of Durant, Oklahoma, Clara Collins of McAlester and Wilma Coleen McNamara of Seattle, Washington; brothers; Joseph Wheeler Arndt of McAlester; sister, Aran Lee Stevens of McAlester; eight grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Alvie Locke, Stanley Welch, Gale Turner, Jack Morriss, Tommy Allen and Pete Mentzel. Memorials may be made to Wilson N. Jones Hospital Building Fund, Sherman, Texas. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and other times at 1409 N. Brents Street.
