Joseph John Drenik, 84 years, died at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo following a lengthy illness. Joseph was born in Strabane, Pa. He has resided in Eastern Contra Costa County since 1948. Joseph, operated with his family, the Pittsburg Wholesale Grocery business from 1956 until his retirement in 1992. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed golf and gardening.
Survivors include his wife Louise Drenik, Brentwood, Ca.; son William Drenik, Brentwood, Ca.; and daughter JoLynne Smylie, Antioch, Ca.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Frank Drenik, Clairton, Pa.; nieces and nephews also survive.
Joseph served in the U.S. Army-Air Force during World War II.
Visitations will be at the Brentwood Funeral Home, Monday, Sep. 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Heart Church, Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. Burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
