OBITUARY Iron River Reporter April 16 1940 “Farm Youth of Nelma Is Dead”
Funeral services will be held from the farm home at Nelma Thursday afternoon for Alfred Beckman, 20, who died early yesterday at Laona hospital following an illness of six months.
Young Beckman became seriously ill soon after the death of his father Herman Beckman, a farmer, in November. He was taken to the University hospital in Madison for treatment. For several weeks he had been a patient in the Laona hospital.
Rev. George Tiefel, pastor of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran church of Stambaugh, will officiate. Burial will be in Alvin [Resthaven]. The Beckman family resides on the Spencer farm.
Beckman was born in Russia on August 25, 1919 and migrated to this country with his family.
Surviving him are his mother, a baby brother born on February 14, and four sisters.
The body will be taken from the Buchanan funeral home to the farm residence tomorrow afternoon.
