Birth: Jun. 22, 1806
Hingham Center
Plymouth County
Massachusetts, USA
Death: Nov. 5, 1866
Dover
Strafford County
New Hampshire, USA

He was 7th of 10 children of Theophilus and Sarah Waters BURR; in June 1828, he married Frances McDonald, daugh of John McDonald of Limerick, ME. While still in his early teens, he apprenticed with a Boston printer, learning the trade he would put to good use for the Free Will Baptist Printing Establishment. Their books have included his name among those they hold in high esteem. An interesting biography, Life of William Burr, was written in 1871 by Rev. J.M. Brewster. He includes the inscription on a 12-ft marble monument erected over his grave the next year, which reads:

WILLIAM BURR, Ae 60
"This Monument, erected by the Freewill Baptist Denomination stands as a tribute to his memory.

He had charge of the Printing Office at the opening in 1826, and was Editor of the Morning Star and Agent of the Printing Establishment during a period of more than thirty years.

By his integrity in business, his urbanity in social intercourse, His broad and philanthropic sympathies, and
especially by his devout earnestness as a Christian, he won and retained the high esteem of all who knew him.

He was a member of the City Government in Dover, and of the Legislature of New Hampshire; and for more than twenty-five consecutive years was elected Treasurer of the Benevolent Societies."
