Company F "Irwin Volunteers" of Irwin County, 49th Georgia Infantry, Thomas' Brigade, A.P. Hill's Division, 2nd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Residence Irwin County GA.
Enlisted on 8/30/1862 at Calhoun, GA., he was mustered into "F" Co. GA 49th Infantry as a Private.
Admitted 11/1/1862 into Chimborazo Hospital #3, Richmond, for "single hernia" and erysipelas; returned to duty 12/11/1862.
He died of pneumonia in camp at Guinea Station, VA.
A Settlement Claim from his family was received on 4/13/1864.

The 49th Infantry Regiment was organized in November, 1861, with men from Wilkinson, Talfair, Washington, Irwin, Laurens, Pierce, and Pulaski counties.
