Company B "South River Farmers" of Newton County, 53rd Georgia Infantry, Semmes' Brigade, McLaws' Division, 1st Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Residence Newton County GA.
Enlisted on 5/1/1862, on 5/12/1862 he was mustered into "B" Co. GA 53rd Infantry as a Private.
He died of congestive chill in Camp at Spotsylvania, VA.

The 53rd Infantry Regiment completed its organization during the spring of 1862. Its companies were form Fayette, Baker, Mitchell, Quitman, and Jasper counties.
