RAY HARRISON
Ray Harrison, 93, of Kelso, died Nov 5, 1997, at a Longview nursing home.

He was born May 12, 1904, in Lynn county; MO., to William and Tilda Harrison and came to Kelso from Missouri 70 years ago.

He and Margye H. Wines were married Jan. 8, 1942, and celebrated 55 years of marriage this year.

Mr. Harrison worked at Weyerhauser Co. for several years, then started at Longview Fiber Co. at the beginning of World War II. A journeyman pipe fitter, he retired in 1969 after 29 years, then worked for Hoffman Construction for 2 1/2 years.

He enjoyed hunting, bowling, fishing, camping, rocks, working with wood and cooking. He made good apple pies.

He was a former member of the Kelso Eagles and Oddfellows, and was an honorary deacon at Zion Chrstian Center.

Survivors include his wife, Margye, at home; two sons, Charlie Ray Harrison and Ray Henry Harrison, both of Kelso; two step-sons, Larry Farnsworth of Kelso and Jerry Farnsworth of Sweet Home, Ore.; two daughters, Alina Kleppen of Longview and Charlotte Ann Coulter of Kelso; a stepdaughter, Reva Stephenson of Worland, Wyo.; 42 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolina Tompkins, and two stepsons, James Farnsworth and Chester Farnsworth.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Zion Christian Center. Interment will take place at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens.

Viewing hours are noon to 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Ditlevsen-Moore Chapel on the Hill.
