Bo's Great Grandather~
J.B. was the son of Abraham W. Jackson from Virgina and Malissa Hartgrove Jackson, from Missouri. He married Manervia Seagrave in 1857 in Crawford County, Arkansas, they had ten children.
On June 18, 1862 he joined the Arkansas, USA Company B 3rd. Regiment, Arkansas Infantry, his rank was private.
J.B. was captured on July 4, 1863 in Helena, Phillips, Arkansas. As a POW he was sent to Camp Douglas, Alton, Ill. on July 9, 1863, on April 4, 1864 he was sent to Ft. He became very ill and not expected to live, his father wrote the commanding officer of the POW camp and asked if he could come get his son to let him die at home, he was granted permission. Thankfully J.B. lived!
