Mrs. Lizzie Cann Dies At Age 100
Mrs. Lizzie Cann, 100, who celebrated her century mark last Oct. 23, died Monday evening in a local hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Cann was born in Montana Territory in 1865, one of the eight children of the Lewis Morgan Howell family. When she was 13 the family moved to California where she attended the College of the Pacific and then the College of Notre Dame.
She married James Cann in Visalia and they pioneered in the north part of Tulare County until Cann's death. She had lived in Madera for the past 27 years with her daughter. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Madera.
Survivors include her daughter, Miss Margaret Cann of Madera; a granddaughter, Mrs. Betty O'Dell of Visalia, and a grandson, Col. James P. Cann of Manhattan Beach.
Arrangements will be announced later by R. C. Jay and Son Mortuary.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Cann, who died Monday evening, will be at 11 A.M. Friday in the Jay Chapel. Entombment will be in Smith Mountain Cemetery near Dinuba.
