Mrs. Anna Bell Batsel Johnson, 71, died Thursday in an Indianapolis nursing home. She was born in 1914 in Muhlenberg, Ky., and was a graduate of Western Kentucky University. She received a master's degree from Ball State University and was an art consultant for Indianapolis Public Schools before her retirement in 1974. She was a teacher for 37 years. Mrs. Johnson was a member of First Baptist Church of Indianapolis; Delta Kappa Gamma sorority; and was a former member of Indiana State Teachers Association and National Educational Association. She is survived by her husband, Arthur N. Johnson of Indianapolis; two brother, Harold Batsel of Florida and Wayne Batsel of Kentucky; and four sisters, Geraldine Bruce, Susie Dossett and Mary Thurman, all of Kentucky, and Alma Plain of Tennessee. Service is today in Indianapolis.
