My Grand-Uncle Peter McKinnon and his wife, Charlotte Louisa Call McKinnon, were blessed with their first child, a son, whom they named Peter Earl McKinnon, 1 year 4 months and 18 days after their marriage. Unfortunately, they soon had to see him return quickly to his Father-in-Heaven only 7 months and 4 days into his journey in this life.
Peter Earl's grave-marker is very close to my great-grandfather Archibald McKinnon's, as you can see in the picture to the right. It was pretty obvious he was related to Archibald, and hence, to me. So I was anxious to discover who the parents were. The abbreviations used on his grave-marker, "C. L. & P. McKinnon", were not sufficient to determine this. The "P" could have stood for "Peter", but there was no way to verify this.
Then, one day, doing other research on the Utah Digital Newspapers site, I came upon the funeral article pictured at the right. Once all the clues it provided were analyzed, it became obvious that Peter and Charlotte Louisa McKinnon were, in fact, Peter Earl McKinnon's parents. Peter Earl McKinnon, therefore, is my first cousin once removed.
Here's a link to the newspaper clipping in which the image at the right was found:
