Elizabeth M. "Libby" Halicky, 93, of Vine Street, Gallitzin, died Tuesday at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview, Altoona.
She was born in Lilly, daughter of the late James and Catherine (Robine) Sweeney.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and wife, Cynthia (Hubstenberger), of Pittsburgh; a brother, Lawrence of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters-in-law: Ann Golden and Mary (Russ) Knee, both of Gallitzin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sr., June 14, 1993; eight sisters: Mary Clinemyer, Margaret Luther, Agnes, Florence Davison, Clara S. Barnhart, Phoebe Solarczyk, Audrey Luther and Dorothy Glunt; four brothers: William, Joseph, John and Robert; and a nephew, James Strayer.
Elizabeth was a member of Christian Mothers and was very active in St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at St. Demetrius Catholic Church with the Rev. Albert Ledoux as celebrant.
Committal at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
The family suggests donations be made to St. Demetrius Church in Libby's memory.
