Sgt Eugene Carter, Vietnam Veteran, resident of Warrenton, North Carolina. He enlisted in Newark, New Jersey.

Sergeant Eugene Carter was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SGT Carter served our country until February 28th, 1970 in Binh Duong, South Vietnam. He was 21 years old and was not married. It was reported that Eugene died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine. His body was recovered. SGT Carter is on panel 13W, line 070 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

On February 28, 1970 the lead APC of a resupply convoy headed to Dau Tieng from the battalion forward base detonated an explosive device. The APC was completely destroyed and seven men from HQ Company were killed: SGT Eugene Carter, Warrenton, NC was one of the seven. Eugene and everyone else on his APC gave their lives. He is the Son of Mr Howard Lee Carter and Mrs Annie Mae Alston Carter of 380 Fairmont Avenue, Newark, New Jersey, 07103.

He served with HHC, 5th Infantry Regiment, "Bobcats", 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
