John Durant Jr. was born on November 9, 1770 in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. His parents were John Durant Sr. and Sarah Dennie. John Jr. married Abigail Ward (daughter of Uriah Ward & Prudence Clark) on February 18, 1796 in Palmer, Hampden County, Massachusetts. He considered himself a Gentleman. John Jr. and his wife had thirteen chilren named Henry Ward, John, Sarah Denny, Nancy, Mary Capen, Caroline, Abby, Bryant, Louisa, Prudence Almarine, James Tracy, Martha, & Lavina. John Jr. & his wife migrated to Illinois in 1842. Some of their chilren had preceded them. He died on January 3, 1848 in Saint Charles, Kane County, Illinois.
