Thomas Harney Alford Jr. was born on Feb. 11, 1934, in Baton Rouge, and passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. Married to Evelyn Cain Alford for 46 years, he was 72 when colon cancer took his life.
A graduate of Central High School and LSU, he was a registered sanitarian who later became a Sanitarian, Parish Manager 11, for the state Department of Health in the East Baton Rouge Parish Health Unit. He was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11819 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, Aug. 25, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Barbara Einsel of Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial Methodist Church, Bogalusa.... Entombment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.
He is survived by two sons, Doug Alford, Baton Rouge, and Greg Alford and wife Chandra and their three children, Tyler, Peyton and Taylor Alford, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister and husband, Norma and Barney Garner, Baton Rouge; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, the Rev. Alan and the Rev. Barbara Einsel, Bogalusa; mother-in-law, Mrs. Elsie Cain; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harney and Alice Alford; and father-in-law, the Rev. Jerome Cain, who was of Baton Rouge....
