Burns Fatal to Farm Woman
Brief services were held at the residence west of Green Springs, Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Wesley Beard, 62, followed by service and interment in Gibsonburg. The Rev. John Eversole of Green Springs and Rev. S. G. Cameron of Gibsonburg Officiated.
Mrs. Beard died Wednesday afternoon as a result of burns suffered at her home a week before when her dress caught fire as she was removing ashes from a heating stove. Her dress became ignited and she ran outdoors into a high wind, spreading the flames over the remainder of her clothing.
The woman was taken to Fremont Memorial Hospital where it was found she was suffering with second and third degree burns. Mrs. Beard was born January 26, 1883, the daughter of John and Sophia Reeves in Gibsonburg. She was married December 20, 1905 at the Church of Christ parsonage in Elmore.
Survivors are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Ella Turf, Old Fort; Mrs. Eunabelle Miller, Deunquat, O., and Miss Edythe Amelia Beard at home; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Louis Miller, Glenn, Ton Habecker, Dee Hoppes, John Willis and J. S. Habecker.

Pearl Adella Reeves Beard was born January 25, 1883 in Gibsonburg. She was the daughter of John and Sophia Smith Reeves. Due to severe burns, which she received at her home near Green Springs, she was taken to Memorial hospital where she passed away from this life on February 28, 1945.
On December 20, 1905, she maws united in Holy Matrimony to Henry Wesley Beard of Gibsonburg. They were married at Elmore in the Church of Christ parsonage. Four children were born to this happy union. Ella, Mildred Mae, Una Bell and Edythe.
From 1905 to 1920, she, together with her family lived on West Stone St., Gibsonburg. Later moving to Pemberville. The last four years Mr. and Mrs. Beard and their daughter Edythe lived on a farm southwest of Green Springs, Ohio.
On February 21, 1898 Pearl made, her public, confession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour and was baptized by Rev. L. A. Warren. In the following month she was given the Right Hand of Fellowship, and became a pledged member of the local Church of Christ. Until she moved away from Gibsonburg she was always active in her Lord's Vineyard: first as a charter member of the Christian Endeavor Society in 1902: member of the choir for many years and a member of the Vivian Class and secretary for some years. Other church work also drew her devoted attention A consecrated Christian, kind and loving mother and wife, neighbor and friend, beloved by all.
Mrs. Beard was preceded in death by one daughter, Millie Mae in fancy; her sister, Mrs. Effie Crispen on Dec. 9, 1941; also her parents, the mother on June 19, 1924 and the father on May 21, 1934.
