Juanita (Lynn) "Dee Dee" Hay, 87, lifetime resident of Evansville, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital on Saturday morning, Feb. 24, 2007.
"Dee Dee" was born on April 17, 1919, to Earl and May Lynn. She was married to Allen Hay on July 4, 1940, at Trinity Methodist Church by Reverend Keck.
Upon graduating from Central High School, she was a dental assistant to Dr. Victor Jordan Jr. and Dr. Victor Jordan Sr. Later, she was a Kindergarten Assistant at Hebron School for 20 years.
She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed large family dinners. She and her husband traveled to all 50 states and numerous countries all over the world. She donated her time reading for the blind on WNIN Radio. She was also a lifetime member of the Methodist Temple, the Crusaders's Class, and Miriam Circle.
"Dee Dee" is survived by her husband of 66 years, Allen; son, Steven Hay of Newburgh; daughters, Victoria Bertke of Fredericksburg, Va., and Nancy Ingram of Bedford, Ind. She had eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. David Niednagel and Rev. Kevin McKinney, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from noon until service time at Alexander East Chapel.
