Herman Micheels was born in Pomerania, Germany, he immigrated in 1880. Herman was 24 His wife Ernestine was 28, three young children Erma Anna 4, Amelia E. 2, Albert 9 months and Maria Micheels age 64 widowed,they left from Hamburg Germany on 21 April 1880 on ship Frisa bound for New York. By June 11 1880 Herman and his family were living with his brother Ferd Micheels and he was working in a saw mill,sometime before 1892 they had moved west to Snohomish, Washington.
