Irene first married Walter D. Willits, son of William and Chariah (Drury) Willits, on 11/5/1863 in Mercer County. The family went to Kansas for a short time in the early 1800's then returned to Illinois.

Walter Willits died 1/12/1875 and is buried in the Davis Cemetery in Mercer County, IL. Their Ada is also buried in the Davis Cemetery.

Irene Burleigh Willits second marriage was to George V. Anderson. George was the son of Anders P. and Augusta Anderson. They were married on 9 May 1884. They lived in Harvey, Cook County, Illinois later in life.

CHILDREN OF IRENE
Irene had two daughters with Walter Willits:
Ada Blanche, b. abt 1865, IL, d. 1/20/1882
Zella Vic, b. abt 1874, Kansas

Irene had no children with her second husband, George Anderson, but they were close to Irene's daughter Zella and her husband Edwin Gamble.

Daughter Zella Willits married Edwin Gamble. They had an adopted daughter Dorothy Irene Gamble born in 1898 and adopted in 1901. Zella died in 1915.

Records state that Son-In-Law, Edwin Smith Gamble took care of Irene and George until his death in 1935, but his obituary says He had been living in CALIFORNIA since around 1928, when he retired? See his obit here:

Both George and Irene died in 1936 in Harvey and are buried at Hazelwood Cemetery, Thornton Township, Cook County.

NOTE from Find A Grave member: Katie Manion says "Hazelwood (also historically noted as Hazlewood) is now called Washington Memorial Gardens at Ridge Rd & Halsted St., in Homewood, IL 60430. As per http://genealogytrails.com/ill/cook/cem.htm.",so I've changed the cemetery info.
