Darline Snell Bartee, a lifelong shore area resident, was born September 11, 1950 in Long Branch, New Jersey to Willie J., Sr. and Essie B. Robinson Snell. She accepted Christ and was baptized at Second Baptist Church, Long Branch, New Jersey and served on the Usher Board with her father.

"Dobby," as she was affectionately known, attended the public schools of Long Branch, graduating from Long Branch High School in 1969. She embarked on a career in the Computer Industry as an Inspector in the field of Parts Manufacturing, until retiring in 2006. She united in matrimony with the late George E. Bartee in 1972 and relocated to Neptune, New Jersey.

She most enjoyed entertaining at home and was known for preparing magnificent buffets. Whether a Saturday gathering of "the girls," backyard barbecue or New Years celebration, her greatest pleasure came from seeing everyone fed and having a festive time. Like her father, she was happiest when her home and yard were filled to capacity. Countless people, some of whom she didn't know, have cherished memories of wonderful times and her kind and generous spirit.

In addition to her husband in 1991, her father predeceased her in 2003.

Dobby leaves to celebrate her life three children, Rodney Snell of Brooklyn, NY, George, Jr. and Kysee Bartee, both of Long Branch; her mother, Mrs. Essie Bell Snell of Long Branch; two sisters, Jane Snell Holland of South Orange, NJ and Eddie Mae Williamson of Atlanta, GA; three brothers, Willie Jr. of Long Branch, J. David of Windsor, CT, and Vincent Snell of Long Branch; two grandchildren, J'aisean Bowens and Klasiq Bartee: two goddaughters, Jasmine McMahon and Victoria Banks; six sisters-in-law, Liz Snell of Windsor CT, Kathy Snell of Newark, NJ, Barbara Lennon and Joan Minor of Long Branch, Gloria Wright of Neptune and Carole Lawrence of Belmar, NJ; two bothers-in-law, Augustus Bartee, Jr. and Kenneth Williamson of Atlanta; beloved nieces and nephews; devoted aunts and cousins and a host of loving, chosen children and adoring friends.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday, March 23 until the funeral at 11 a.m. from Second Baptist Church, 93 Liberty St., Long Branch. Interment will be private in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
