He was the son of Jacob Huffer, Jr., and Susannah W. Caricofe. He married Mary Ann Michael and Mary Etta Frymoyer.
Obituary from the Staunton newspaper, February 02, 1931:
William Huffer, 89, died early Sunday morning at his home at Stokesville. He was sick a week. He was a Confederate veteran and a member of Stonewall Jackson Camp, U.C.V.
He is survived by his widow; five sons, Edward, Whitney, and Woodrow, all of Stokesville; Gay, Staunton; J.B., Washington; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey Moats and Mrs. Robert Knott, both of Stokesville.
The funeral will be held from Emmanuel church, near Mt. Solon, this afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the Rev. A. S. Hammack, of Dayton.
