"As the only girl and youngest child among the surviving children, Hannah was apparently cherished by the whole family. Affectionately, they called her "Sister". Sister Mary Frederica told me of her father, Fred, taking his hat and umbrella after dinner of a Sunday and announcing, "I'm going over to see Sister." This, of course, was after Hannah had married Charlie Buecker and was living in Camden, NJ. just across the Delaware River."

"Charlie was a salesman type, a naturally friendly and outgoing person of whom people spoke with pleasure; he was easy to know and well liked. He was the son of Gerhard Buecker, who was born in Germany, and Anna B Daudt, who was a Philadelphia girl."

"I wish I had asked Sister Mary Frederica for a memoir on Hannah and Charlie, but I expected to get information on them from their direct descendants. When the time came, however, I found that the older generation had all died, and the younger people had no details. My own mother, Sallie, remembered him well, but she died before I ever started to work on the McCarthy family tree, and I had never asked her to share the wealth of memories she must have had."
